However – the quest is complicated as follows. The Italian friends for whom I’m seeking gifts are bocce fans from way back, and seem to have all the basics – i.e., they specifically do not need bocce balls or ball sets, of any vintage, as they have oodles thereof. They express interest in “ancillary things like measuring tools, memorabilia, and so forth.” I have no idea what this might comprehend, but am game to try. However, my online efforts so far have turned up only (a) sporting good vendors selling balls, which, as noted, are neat but not of help to me; and (b) local bocce clubs – which could be an interesting resource, if all else fails, but don’t immediately help my shopping needs.
Petanque enthusiasts are also encouraged to chime in.
