Attention Creepy Christian Minister guy...IT'S FICTION!

So, where to begin…
I’m at work, minding my own business, innocently reading a paper, when I come across an article about some chap having a go at the DaVinci Code.

Against my better judgement, I read on. Seems the honcho from one of the local worship warehouses (it’s a church, with a Starbucks in it, I swear to, well, you know) has mounted his steed, and has begun tilting the DaVinci Code. You know, that, religiously subtexted fiction novel from a few years ago? Well, it seems he’s taken his nuttery nationwide, and is calling to the other wild-eyed nutters out there on the right-wing to boycott the upcoming movie, that is, in his words “sure to outshine the Passion of the Christ”.

Now, perhaps it’s my cynical nature, or perhaps it’s merely my disdain for power-mad hypocrites with their own little god (small g) complexes. But I can’t help but think, that in this time of the approaching the High Holy days of your little religion, that perhaps your time and energy would be better spent, oh, I don’t know…

SHELTERING THE HOMELESS, FEEDING THE HUNGRY? If you really wanna know what Jesus would do, there’s your answer. He’d do THAT, and let the “sinners” who are making this movie, go on about their business.

I know you’ve got a right to say what you choose, but you sir, are a power-grubbing charlatan.

Wow… that dude’s hair is going to be in my nightmares tonight. And who knew Mike Meyers had an evil twin?

Man, I hate flash sites.

Are you sure that isn’t Bob Odenkirk playing a really good joke on you? 'Cause it looks like him.

“Gentlemen, I propose that this arts funding is like a milking machine and unless we shut it down, it’s gonna rip our dicks right off!”

Is that the movie where there’s a treasure map to the lost templar gold on the back of the declaration of independence?

Nope, that was “National Treasure”.

The one he’s talking about is where humanity is saved from the Psychlos by a bunch of cavemen in Harrier jets.

Somehow, to me, he looks a little like Donald Trump. Huh.

He’s a bit late for the bandwagon, isn’t he? There have already been several books debunking The Da Vinci Code.

Up next: he’ll prove that J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Two Towers is geographically inaccurate.

I’m working on a DVD exposing “S Is For Silence.” I’ll let you know what I uncover… if they don’t try to silence me first!

These guys just remind of the quote from Jerry Lee Lewis:

“What you’ve got to understand is, my cousin’s always been an asshole.”

Wait - so, “S” isn’t for Silence?

Yeah? I’ll bet you say that about the Left Behind books, too.

Well now to be fair, while Brown certain called it fiction he cribbed most of it from “Holy Blood Holy Grail”, which was supposedly true. And the History channel did a whole thing on it that was far more credulous than it should be.

It’s not like they’re anything too silly that someone won’t really believe it (and who would know that better than fundumentalist Christians  ).

On the other hand…ok finally got the opening page to load…Christian belief is under attack??? Er…no the Da Vinci Code is not an attack. Even Holy Blood Holy Grail was not an attack…join the crusade??? Ok, he’s a nutjob.

Did all the bookstores suddenly put “The DaVinci Code” in the non-fiction section?

Nice website by the way!
“The Christian faith is under attack!”???
What a fucking joke! Something like 75% of America is Christian. An “attack” on Christian faith would be the new definition of “uphill battle”.

Sorry, but the perpetual persecution complex of some Christians really bug me.

Aren’t the majority members of the American government Christian?

Gee, the Christian right are losing influence left and right!

ARG! :frowning:

Christian Fundamentalists don’t have a premium on thinking the DaVinci Code is non-fiction.

Ask the annoying guy from my art history class last spring.

Definitely not. I’d expect most fundamentalists to hate the book. With all that “sacred feminine” bullshit, it’s more up the alley of Mystic People.

“We will send Sony pictures a petition along with Tom Hanks and Ron Howard”

Good to see that Tom and Ron are taking a stance on this attack on Christianity, and sending their own petitions!

Oh, they’re making the movie,
nevermind.

Can someone please clue me in? I thought "The DaVinci Code " was a book about there is some kind of coded message in the Bible and we couldn’t find it untill now because we needed computers to find it for us.

This premise is not being pawned off as real? Because I thought it was. Not that I believe it myself mind you. It’s just that I distincly remember seeing a show about it on the History channel and they weren’t pawning it off as fiction.

The Da Vinci Code is a novel about the Holy Grail, what it is, and where to find it. I don’t recall there being anything about coded messages in the bible, but there is a lot about there being clues and hints in works of art.

If anything, it at least provokes an interest in art.
