As for the rest of you Dopers—
eat yer hearts out, suckas!

I thought she sold her books when her house was auctioned off a couple months ago. She’s apparently donated some to the library for their book sale, too.

StG

Damn, I’m jealous. She got me into sci-fi in the 60’s. One of the first sci-fi books I read was “Star Man’s Son, 2250 AD”. Eventually I ended up an Engineer, because of sci-fi, and now a college prof. in ME. Thank you Ms. Norton.

PS: for years I thought she was a guy. :smack:

And this would happen during a month when my bills were high!

You are sooo lucky. I would love to go to that sale.

Andre Norton lives in the 'boro?

She’s been living here for years.
Low crime, easy to get around, low cost of living.
A little dull, but hey! She’s getting on in years, & the trade-off might look pretty good.

Also, we have a good local hospital, & terrific ones in Nashville. Between the researchers at Vanderbilt Med School/Hospital, & the heart group at Saint Thomas, you’d be hard pressed to criticise the care.

As long as you are hands off any books on Waba-Sabi! Thanks for the heads up!

DEAL!

What’s a Wubby-Subby?

Bosda, you cannot BEGIN to conceptualize how much i am hating you right now.

i woud kill for a chance to buy a previously-owned-by-ANDRE NORTON book. any book!

i woud even … gasp … trade off some of my favored Halloween props for the chance.

and i’m very serious about my Halloween. very, VERY serious.

Prepare to swallow your gum–they’re $1 each.

Why kill? Why not just rob a bank?

Take a look at some of the books that Royal Books is selling:

Ghod!

Big Ike really used to sponge meals off people, didn’t he?

<< insert sounds of bitter weeping in the wilderness >>

Damn, even the cheapest flight from California to there makes the books very pricey.

Oh well, at least I have more books than her - but her’s are cooler.

And I do have Dr. A’s signature on the Galaxy which had Martian Way - with his name misspelled. he was mad about that 20 years later.

And here’s the books I got:
[ol]

Sadly, no Japanes Mythology. :frowning:

Anybody got a copy of “The True Diary Of Lady Nijo” they’d like to swap?

Oh.

Yeah.
I forgot…

Eat yer hearts out!!!

Ok, might I ask why she had to sell off all her books? I cannot imagine anything more painful to me than having to get rid of my books. Is she in financial difficulty? Her health has deteriorated to the point where she must be in an assisted living community?

Jeez - maybe I should sell MY first-edition set of the Foundation Trilogy - I hadn’t realized the price had gone up that much. I mean, I know that is a great association set, but still - $7,500 each? That’s a big premium for the association…

Great set of purchases Bosda - I officially consider my heart eaten out

Not all.

Merely a part of her High Halleck Library.
And BTW–I pick up 3 or 4 more books–forgot to list them. :smack:
