attn: Grouse Hunters

Well Wahoo???

I’ve hunted grouse on a few occasions. Those things are fast, and startle the hell out of you when they take off. Needless to say, my hat goes off to anyone who can bag a grouse.

Well, my first grouse hunt was a disappointment. I saw 3 birds this weekend, but none while hunting for them. Maybe next year.

As far as gun deer season goes, I’ll only be hunting on the second weekend, but I saw so much sign that I’m not too worried. I’ll be hunting about 6 miles northwest of Rhinelander. Set up a ground blind this weekend in a nice spot with lots of trails, no shot over 100 yards.
Good luck, Sleddie, hope you get the turdy-pointer.

PS, did you know there are moose in WI? The guys at my shack have seen 2 in the last year and they just had a story on the local news about one that’s been hanging out in Rhinelander.

Well that can be the nature of the beast Wahoo. Lot’s of walking and sometimes they just aren’t where you are.

As for myself I am still plodding the waters of the Wisconsin and got my first Hooded Merganser this past weekend. That was cool!!!

I downloaded deer hunting songs off Napster so now I am getting next to no work done as thoughts of Turdy pointers run through my head. Making a list and checking it twice.

Must be like 5 or 6 years ago now but we used to have a Moose hanging out in the Dewey Marsh. Everyone thought the people who said they saw it were nuts until someone hit it with their car.

Have you seen any of the Elk?? I forget where they released them… Maybe it was over by Phillips??? There’s a web link off the DNR site I’ll have to check.
