Attn: Qadgop the Mercotan

There’s a great cartoon by Callahan (he’s the one who’s mostly-quadroplegic and has a sick sense of humor)*:

Doctor, to man lying face down on table:

“My examination technique is a bit different in that I have no arms and I’m gay.”
*His autobiography is called “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot.”

Qadgop thanks again from me (wife’s hand wound). Please do stick around.

Family Practice? God bless ya, man. I love my family practice doctor and when I got knocked up, I didn’t switch to a obstetrician, I stuck with him. And when Cranky Jr was born, no pediatrician, either. Still the family practice guy. He sees all of us.

I’m a big advocate of family practice for prenatal care and baby care. I think it’s a huge, huge benefit that my relationship with this doctor is continuous, that he knows our whole family, and that he’s a good generalist. And to me, I like knowing that the decisions he made about my pregnancy and delivery (this is theoretical, as the bastard had the nerve to be on a camping trip in Canada with his damn son when I went into labor) were based on the fact that the end result (both mother and baby) were both going to be his patients when it’s all over. And that he’s seen the long-and short-term effects of events during pregnancy and labor and delivery and neonatal care.

That’s enough yacking out of me–I just wanted to say yours is a noble calling.

Qadgop, I love your posts, and the way you freely share your knowledge with this community and explain things in plain (but witty) English.
Second, I want to agree with Cranky - family practitioners rule. Props out to Dr. Harrington who dealt with my family’s entire brood and treated me from diapers to my first birth control prescriptions. If I still lived in my hometown he’d be my doctor until the day one of us died, and I’ve never found a better one. Until Qadgop, that is.

All I can say is that I’m really looking forward to OklaDope* next weekend. See ya at Joe’s.

*[sub]If you missed that thread, Qadgop’s visit is the only incentive great enough to get the rest out in this heat for a Dopefest. Of course, if Cecil were to venture down old Route 66 (and tell us he’s coming), we’d line the sides of the road just to wave to him as he drove by.[/sub]

Qadgop shows up in all the best threads, and always has something interesting to say.

Another “Whoohoo!” for Family Practice. Our doc has treated three generations of the family, and really knows his stuff. The “speciallists” would be proud to be so skilled…

If he can turn his head to left without turning the rest of it, he’ll need one a lot more than if the whole thing turns:D

Cable modem on my office desk and at home!

He sometimes agrees with me. For what more could I ask?

He really is dreamy!
