“Agenda” is apparently atop the list of the administration’s talking points.
I can’t tell if he’s being evasive or if he’s accurately describing long-standing policy to not talk about stuff that was talked about.
Sounds like it’s turning into a wrongful termination suit.
‘possibly had a meeting but I do not recall it’
He had a fucking meeting.
It’s not perjury if you don’t remember it.
“Privileged conversations…” “Can’t remember…” “*Possibly *had a meeting…” “Not to my recollection…”
Funny how a grown-ass man has the memory of a goldfish in regard to some serious, and fairly recent, actions and events.
After the opening statement, I keep expecting him to go all Foghorn Leghorn - “I say sir! I dare say you have impugned my honor!”
No shit! It’s not like this is 5 years prior and it is tough to remember. Maybe Sessions is a black-out drunk like Shithead Bannon who legitimately could claim: “It was after 5PM last night when that occurred and I cannot recall.”
Odd how he can’t confirm or deny that any conversations took place between himself and the president, but has no problem freely offering up the fact that the conversation he (and Comey et al) had with Pres. Trump on February 14 (the day Trump asked Comey to stay behind for a one-on-one) was *specifically *about counterterrorism. Weird and oddly-specific bit of info.
Ooh ooh! It’s gettin’ fiery with Wyden! Sessions is getting loud in the Chamber now!
“Sir, I say, sir!”
Thanks for that!
Oh, shit! Sen. King seems to have nailed him on this.
ETA: Sessions looks scared, IMO.
I’m getting fond of Sen. King.
“I cannot answer that.” = “Yes.”
Took a step away-- what did Sen King do and/or say?
yeah - spoilers - I got tired of listening to him - figured I’d miss the good parts.
Sen. King asked AG Sessions if the POTUS had asserted executive privilege. Sessions said no. King asked him then under what legal basis he was refusing to testify, since Sessions had acknowledged earlier that only the POTUS could assert EP. Sessions replied that he was preserving the ability of the POTUS to assert EP in the future over the conversations he was being asked about now.
Sen. King then gave examples of Sessions revealing content or subject matter from some conversations with the POTUS and asked him to reconcile the different responses.
nicely played.
“I’m not answering that because he might not like the answer later, or may wish to change it”
Sessions has got one legendarily shitty memory. I thought I had a bad memory. I feel much better about myself right now.
Sen. Harris just put a huge dent in AG Sessions invocation of “long-standing policy” baby asking what that policy was exactly so the committee could review it. Sessions did not know where it was written down and had never reviewed any actual rule or policy, calling into question whether or not any such policy or rule exists.
