The wife and I are going to New Zealand in October to visit a couple of her cousins. Our plans are for 4 days in Auckland then 2 weeks on the south island. The original plans called for staying with a cousin in Auckland but due to circumstances beyond our control, those plans have been scrapped. What we are looking for now is a reasonable priced nice hotel in Auckland, maybe somewhere in the $100 a night range. I have tried Google and the travel websites but found them rather overwhelming. My wife would like someplace near some water, perhaps overlooking the harbor. We are also in need of a rental car too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
…its been years since I lived in Auckland: but at one stage I had worked at most of the central city hotels. (But all of them would have been out of your budget!)
I know you’ve checked google, but for me the best place to check would be Travel Bug: its what I use when I’m travelling around the country.
As for car rentals: sorry can’t help at all there. But a pre-emptive welcome to the country!
