Dear Dopers,
The title of that thread put me in a very nostalgic mood.
To whit: The magazine called Hi-Fi Stereo Review.
I must admit I don’t know if it still even being printed, but I must tell you it was one of the magazines I looked forward to receiving every month, and it was always read cover to cover - as a child reads a Sears & Roebuck Toy catalog because I knew I would NEVER be able to afford that Bang-Olafsun turntable with the sound coming through those BOSE speakers out of a room which was dust-free - the needle being gently lowered to the virgin vinyl by only the purest of women…
Nat Hentoff was my hero, but there were many more in all genres, and they ALL excelled in their craft, and whatever they reviewed, I would always base my purchse on tht opinion, and I was NEVER disappointed, because I knew in my heart, the work had been done for me, and if it was good enough for Nat, I need never worry!
