Goodness, lots of Bendigo fans. I moved from Melbourne to Bendigo in 2006, and from thence to Santa Clara, California in 2008. You’re right, though, it’s a pretty good place to live, apart from winter. I might be a bad judge of that, though, since I grew up in Darwin, then, in Bendigo, lived in a rickety 100yr old weatherboard miner’s cottage, and worked in a giant drafty railway goods shed :slight_smile:

I love the cafe and pub scenes in Bendigo, and miss them greatly in the suburban sprawl of the Bay Area.

Bendigo: plus a great art gallery, library, university campus, good train service to Melbourne, and still the sense of a country town and people in a real community. I have family there who absolutely love the place.
