And thanks for the e-mail Primaflora. I go on holidays next week, so I may be able to make it if you can give me a date. I try to make it down to Brissy a couple of times a year to catch up with freinds (I used to live there abot 5 years ago). Sounds like a good time to do the holiday rounds.

I live in Port Lincoln, South Australia - shark and tuna capital of the nation. To the best of my knowledge, only two other Dopers live here: Tisme and Adolph Peewee. As I see both of them quite regularly, the idea of a local Dopefest is somewhat pointless.
As to trekking across the country to meet the rest of you, maybe one day when I am not busy paying a mortgage and supporting a family. But it’s nice to know there are more of us than I was previously aware.
As for Steeljaw, he’s probably one of those sad individuals who needed subtitles to make sense of Crocodile Dundee…

Hej Cumber, you picked it. That’s the one. I have actually met a few people here who have heard of it. That is because they go to Broken Hill and stop there for food. They remember the name because it is funny. “Orange, the Big Apple” (before anyone starts, it is NSW’s largest apple growing district)
Okay - a suggestion then. Next Friday evening… say 7pm at the Italian restuarant in Southbank (near the beach). It’s licensed but minors will be allowed in. We can share a meal take some snaps, meet each other and have some fun.

Um, remember I said I’d be there Saturday 22nd? Got it half right - I’ll be there Saturday. Turns out that is not the 22nd. Any chance of Saturday night instead? I’d try to move the flights, but there ain’t no chance of getting 3 flights changed this close to Xmas.

(Mind you, as the dates were originally given to me by my spouse, it is technically his fault. There is an outside chance for one seat available, so I could try and change my flight, and let him wrangle a 3-year-old Friday and Saturday by himself. That’d make for happy families over Xmas! Nah.)

Let’s get one going for Sydney too, sometime early in the new year - late january say. My personal suggestion would be in the CBD, cause anywhere else in the city is a bitch to get to. Anyone got some good suggestions for a restaurant/pub?

Being a meeting of the local chapter of a US forum Starbucks might be symbolic but its a pretty small place and expensive for just OK coffee.

I reside around Coogee in Sydney. All praise to me. I reckon the DOG would be good. I went there once. Had a big thick steak sizzling on a plate. The thought of it is making me hungry.
