Auto problem

At the oil change today one of the workers noticed oil in the air intake assembly leading to the air filter. It seems to be coming from the smaller of 2 hoses that connect to the engine.

This one fits into the valve cover.Possible solution according to him ,plugged pvc valve or other connections.

I’m planning to take it in in 2 weeks for a 60k mile (it’s at 65k) general check at my local mechanic who’s trustworthy, tho not cheap.

Any ideas what may be causing this? This is newfound in the last 4k miles.Notes on the invoice from the Jiffy lube include oil streaks on frame.Possible complications by letting it go 2 more weeks (must have been doing it for a couple weeks or months,I guess).Never noticed any engine problems, seems to run as fine as ever.

It’s a '95 Ranger 4cyl 2wd.
Anybody familiar with this problem?Weird or commonplace?Only required repair so far since new in '96 was an O2 sensor replaced about 20k miles about 5 years or so ago.

Not a big deal. Probably PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation, not PVC, that’s a plastic) valve. They are very cheap and easy to replace. Very low chance you have some failure like piston rings but I would guess the valve will fix it. No danger in driving it.

Pull the PVC from it’s mount in the valve cover and shake it. If you can hear it rattle it’s not the problem. However, the oil could be blowing past the seal.

Thanks for the timely responses.Auto problems are always worrisome to me,since all cars went to new technology.

My only lifetime repair experience was pre microchip and emission control systems. Most problems back then were pretty straightforward.
