Automatically sending an email from Access

We maintain an inventory of chemicals using a Microsoft database. The database contains information on the expiration dates of chemicals and we want to be able to set up something that will automatically send an email to the appropriate people when chemicals hit expiry. Is this something you could do easily in Access? I know this is probably a noob question for IT people, but we are just lab people trying to muddle through. Thanks.

To add an additional bit, no it’s not easy. But yes it’s possible. It can depend on how your database is put together…what version of Access you’re running…and whom you have on staff that is semi-comfortable working with MS Access.
