autopoiesis? not in dictionary

Any idea as to what autopoiesis means? Not in the dictionaries I check. It was used in reference to biology.

Well according to my dictionary “poiesis” means production or formation so I would assume that “autopoiesis” means “self formation.”

The proces whereby an organization produces itself.
Self-producing systems, where a system can be a cell, an organism and perhaps a corporation.
