My google foo isn’t working on this. I want to burn some CD’s to be used by very NOT (much less than even me) computer literate types. This is round two, the first distribution, only one user could manage to open a .wmv file, and I included instructions. It has to be not only fool proof, but damned fool proof.
When the CD is loaded, I want the computer to automatically open a .html file on the CD using the system’s default browser. How can I do this? Alternativley, where can I find out how to do this with no more than a few hours of time investment.
I have been trying to use a autorun.inf file, and can make this work, but only if I assume the default browser is iexplore.exe, and that the CD is in drive D. (or another letter, but not “wherever this is running from”)
The first I can live with, (not being very computer literate, I doubt any of the intended audience is running anything besides IE, and even then they IE will at least be installed for updates.) but the second will probably generate error messages for some percentage of the users.
I can pretty well assume that this will run only under XP, but there may be 1-2 macs. It would be nice if it worked on the macs, but we could live without that.
