Meanwhile, DrLoveGun, that rat bastard, got a call from a recruiter on Thursday, when to the open-call interview a 1/2hr late today, and got an offer for a job making $7k more than the one he has now does.
You may not what them to call you. Within the past couple years I’ve had not one, but two interviewers who had the bright idea that calling you with a message to call them back - so they could tell you that you didn’t get the job - was ever so much more personal than a rejection letter. I don’t know about you, but I likes my rejections, cold, impersonal and typed-like.
Another restaurant management gig- but it pays a bunch more, has more potential, and if he does well, they will transfer us on their dime anywhere in the country. That last bit is important for our glorious Eventual Move to Wisconsin plan. It’s a restaurant you have undoubtedly heard of.
You’re not allowed to ask any questions of the interviewers? How on earth do you know if you want the job or not? :dubious:
I just can’t imagine that. Hell, at the last place I interviewed I think I asked more questions than the interviewers. I guess I’m just particular about where I work.
I filled out on online employement thingie for Borders. Cause I luffs Borders.
It had a personality multiple Choice Test which was geared to weed out the Punkass kids who are likely to be nasty to befuddled clients or the Punks who don’t have a car or regular transportation. I have patience. I love books. I have a motor vehicle in my name ( three, actually) Gimme the jobbie! The problem was was it repeated many or most of the questions several times with absolutely no wiggle room for independant thought.
I miss hand written applications where I could lie about my wonderfullness with semi-legible handwriting.
I did not get the job. The letter I was sent mentioned not having enough “supplementary points,” which are points gained for being a veteran, a minority, etc etc. Basically they did everything on a point scale (x number of points per year of relevant work, x number for interview, x number for writing portion, etc) and then picked the person with the highest number of points. I was not them.
I’m sorry you didn’t get the job. I’m on pins and needles waiting to hear back about a job I applied for, and the only feeling worse than that is learning you didn’t get the job.
