Hi, I am traveling to San Francisco from the Desert Hot Springs area and was hoping to get some advice on my route.
My planned route is I-10 to I-215, I-215 to CA-138 into Palmdale and then to CA-14N. Am I going to run into a lot of smoke/or traffic going that way? Time is not an issue, I just don’t want to get caught in a ton of traffic routing around the fire due to road closures. I am from Michigan and am not familiar with the area at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. 
I’d jump on the I-15 north to US-395 then west on CA-58 to Bakersfield, that’s a nice road and basically avoids a ton of SoCal traffic. CA-58 eventually hits the I-5 and from there follow the signs.
