Thanks Curlie. You are right, I don’t want to belive that stuff. I like my rose colored glasses, I even wear them when I’m catching dumped kittens. While I know that the kittens were dumped, I tell myself that they just wandered off and got lost.
One of the most important lessons that Lolli taught me was that if I get angry while cleaning up someone else’s mess that will just make me resentful and less willing to clean up the next mess.
The messes will always be there, people will not fix their pets and some people work the system. I’ve chosen to do rescue. I do cats because that is what I know.
Some of my fellow rescue people also do humans, and they would be bring food and blankets and clothes to her. Not because they love her, but because they want to care for the children.
Those poor beautiful children who are suffering because of their birth mother’s bad decisions.

My rant: Isn’t Houston supposed to be warm? I thought that the Golf Coast would warm things up, but its flipping cold outside.
When I left Miami, I put up a “leaving, got stuff, come take it at your own price” sign.
The bed I’d gotten free from a coworker went to a neighbor who had ten kids, another on the way, and they’d been sleeping on the sofa and on sleeping bags, taking turns (we lived in studios). I think my eyes hadn’t gotten so big since the first time I saw the sea, nor had I ever felt so privileged.

You know, in the Paths of the Dead , they say our heart is weighed against a feather, and if the balance is true, we are vindicated, we have led a good life. But if your heart is just a little out of balance, things don’t go so well. Bast, the cat goddess also sits there, watching. And if you have been one of the humans that adopted one of Her children and gave him a good home, She will slip her paw onto the scale to balance it.
This is where we differ. I will rescue cats and dogs people have thrown out, but I will get angry about it and I will try to do something about it not happening again. That kind of thinking has seriously lowered the unwanted dog population, and maybe someday the unwanted cat population too. As for our 15 kids and counting girl, we really need to come up with a way to keep the kids going without it ending up being a lifestyle for their mothers.

( sigh ) See, this is exactly what I’m talking about. The only difference is who is getting the finger pointed at them. It’s ridiculous!!! Is it possible there will be furloughs? Yes. Hiring freeze? Done. Massive operations/equipment cuts? Yup. But no one- absolutely no one, on either side of the aisle, is going to suddenly decide that 1% of the population is going to stop getting paid, especially when those people are fighting wars at their behest. They showed us the “cold” temperatures for Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Phoenix on the local news last night - my response was, “We’re supposed to feel sorry for them? Those temps are the warm, pleasant days around here these days!”
Why, it’s getting to the point where I might have to put on a jacket to get the newspaper!
