I saw this new film last night:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488953/ (profanity in title!)
First of all, I went with 2 old friends. We are giant Beastie fans and were really stoked to see this. The theater we saw this at happens to have a bar in it and after we bought our tickets, we ran in to drink a quick novelty beer (Wow, I’m drinking in a movie theater!). We wound up staying at the bar longer than we had intended and rushed to the theater worried we might not get seats together. When we turned the corner to where the seats are, we all laughed out lound…there were exactly 4 others in the entire theater. What’s more, two of them left during the opening credits. Wrong auditorium, I guess. Anyway, since we had about 20 rows between the 3 of us and the 2 other people there, we felt ok with the occasional cheer and applause after songs.
The film is great, tho. Read the IMDB entry for the unconventional filming method. Anyone who is a Beastie fan is going to love this movie. I can’t wait to get the DVD.
The setlist was pretty great. Standouts included some old hits like Brass Monkey, Paul Revere and So Watcha Want. I personally thought the instrumentals were the best. I disagree with my 2 buddies about Mix Master Mike vs. Hurricane. I don’t think the switch hurt the Boys at all. MMM is great and highly technical. He got a lot of footage.
You really feel like you saw the show after seeing this film and that’s a great thing! Beastie fans, this is a MUST SEE!
