Alright, I just had an awesome website idea. I’m a large man, and so finding clothes in stores is rather frustrating and tiring and just plain unpleasant. I’d love to find an online vendor which keeps my sizes on file and so I can go in there and only be presented with clothes which fit me. I mean, how hard would this be? Sure it would be rather personal and not for everyone’s taste but for my special case I’d be willing to give up my measurements in exchange for clothes which fit easily.
Maybe it’s not being done on a large scale yet, but there’s people doing what you’re thinking of. While on holiday in Thailand summer-before-last, my sister decided to try out a local tailor, on the “it’s so cheap, I can’t lose” logic. She got measured up, returned a week later to find a fabulous silk suit, indistinguishable in style or quality from what she’d get at home, but much much cheaper. She ordered two more immediately, and he also kept her measurements. Since returning home she’s emailed the guy with further orders, which have been made up and sent to her with no more hassle than buying from a mail-order catalogue.
I’m not looking for tailored stuff. But just for general day to day clothes. T-shirts, pants, button up shirts and such. I’m a 6’6" behemoth with dimensions of a house and when I find a dress shirt with a big enough shoulders the neck is not big enough or the sleeves are too short. So for that sort of stuff I could use a tailor. But in general I’d just like to be presented with a personal shopping assistant website or something.
