B.A.S.E jumping: is it always legal why and what is it?

Do you mean always illegal?

One day a year you can jump off this bridge. They used to allow bungee jumping that day but that was banned in 93.

I’ve always found it funny that the New River is thought to be one of the oldest rivers in the world.

NC has part of that New River and another New river down by the coast. We also have 2 little rivers that are in 2 counties right next to each other.

Almost everything worth jumping off of is owned by somebody else, and you have to have permission. That seems odd for things like a bridge or cliff, to have to ask to leave the fast way. It’s a liability thing.

For the most part you can’t jump in a US national park. I wonder if any other places have a 1 day festival for jumpers like the New river bridge.

I didn’t know you were in NC. Whereabouts?

I live near Raleigh

I grew up down on the coast, between Morehead City and Swansboro. I went to college in Durham, then moved back to Beaufort for a few years. I’ve been thinking about taking my kids down the Outer Banks on surfari in a year or so. I miss NC on occasion. I live in the Great White North now, so you can imagine in spring I my thoughts always turn south. That is, if spring ever freakin’ comes, it snowed yesterday.

Well if you had been here a few years back you would have seen the Stanley Cup  Where in Canada are you?

Newfoundland, as far east as you can get.

Why is it legal?
It’s quite simple really.
