Something we’ve given a few times is a couple of bright red washcloths and a bright red towel. They really come in handy when your kid gets hurt and you’re trying to clean the blood up without scaring them. You’ll have to tell the parents what they’re for but I’ve had 2 mothers thank me for getting them after they used them. Ours sure got a workout when my kids were little. Get a “Pat the Bunny” book, too.
Everyone is giving such good suggestions, mine is along the lines of what Tris said. I’ve always gotten a basket (so they can use that too) and put in socks, thermometer, pacifiers, mirror that attaches to the rear view mirror in their car, it magnifies with a wide angle to keep an eye on baby, a package of windshield darkeners that stick to the rear window, baby acetominophen (you never have it when you need it)
However, I do like Dave’s idea of treating the parents, they’d love you a lot for thinking of them!
Ok, not that anybody cares, but the shower was on Sunday. I ended up getting her a blankie, some t-shirs, socks and cute p.j’s with horsies on them, all in the 3-6 month range so he could grow into them.
Anyway, she ended up getting about 3 of everything. 3 bouncy seats, 3 bathtubs, 7 (count ‘em) rubber duckies, 5 blankets, 2 people gave a GIANT bag o’ bath-time stuff, many duplicates. Etc, etc. The funny part was, every time she opened a duplicate, she said, “Oh, that’s ok…it’s my fault for not registering.” Ugh. Plus it took over TWO HOURS just for the gift opening!
On the upside, the little samwiches they served had pesto on them and were excellent! On the downside, the cake sucked.
Anyway, when it comes time for a little Sunshine, you can rest assured that I WILL register!
