Is a baccalaureate degree the same thing as a bachelor’s degree? If not, please explain what it is, thanks.
There’s also the international baccalaureate, which is more akin to a high school diploma than a bachelor’s degree.
IB has two levels: Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL). SL courses are genrally at the same level as, say, AP courses - very intense but not-quite college level. HL courses, OTOH, are basically college level courses. Or so says my guidance counselor, anyway. It’s all based on the British system, though, which has an extra grade level somewhere along the lines, so the direct correlation gets a bit mucky.
