Bachmann announces she's running

I’m not sure how your response follows from mine, although it’s nice to see a new variant on “If you love the government so much, why don’t you marry it?”. Traditionally I should probably respond with “if you don’t like the government, move to Somalia” but frankly that’s so 2009.

You offered anecdotal evidence. I offered different anecdotal evidence. Which only serves to demonstrate why anecdotal evidence is not “data”.

Me too. It depends entirely on who’s running the place. I’ve been in private sector jobs with appalling efficiency and slack workers, and in gubmint jobs where the place was well-run and everyone worked hard. And vice versa. See my above point about anecdotes.

Major difference- Government- Job for life.

private Sector- Job only as long as you produce benefit.

Which one do you think encourages effectiveness?

The free ride is coming to an end sooner than you think…

So you think all the members of the military are just “lazy government workers” too, eh? I’m sure they appreciate that.

Don’t put them in the same category, because the military is more a culture than just government employees.

Of course, when I was in, and I had to deal with with some on-base civilian contractors, I made a point to block out my whole day for a job that probably should have only taken an hour. Because that’s what it usually turned into with their six mandated breaks a day…

After a while, I managed to figure out how to hit them between their breaks, and actually makea little progress.

Then I finally got sick of it and didn’t re-enlist a third time.

But guy, I totally understand how you all want to protect your cash cow of big government unionized workers… it’s better than an ATM.

Keep it up, RR. If you mention “welfare queens” in the next three posts I’ll win this round of Right-Wing Meme Bingo.

Civilian contractors are by definition not government employees.

Well, ATM can be quite nasty. Not that I generally go in for that kinky stuff, mind…

Bachmann on a roll. Slaves children had it better than we do today. At least they were not forced to watch porn.
They were raised by 2 parents. (does she really believe that). There should be a constitutional amendment against gay marriage. Gays are making a choice to be gay.
Just another Republican.

Nor do they (or government employees, for that matter) get a mandated “six breaks a day”. It’s just another lie.

I see this all the time at my job. According to my co-workers the drivers who pick up the trash dumpersters make “100,000 a year”, no one else but them does any work, and the people in the IT office start at 60,000. (It’s around 40k).

Which is annoying but fine, everyone gripes about their perception of the workplace even if a bit skewed. But when you base your political arguments on embellishments that are not facts, it’s a real problem…and a LOT of people would rather base their politics on what they BELIEVE to be true than what the facts are (see, teen unwed mother statistics, the fact that there never WAS a welfare queen, refer madness, etc etc).

I see the Republicans in the race like picking your favorite whore at the Chicken Ranch… They will screw you out of your money by saying what you want to hear. They don’t respect you. Most of the money goes to the top. You are just a mark.

Here is an article about what Bachmann signed yesterday. She is for outlawing porn, declaring that homosexuality is a choice, ending Sharia Law( where is it ) and other right wing ideas. She is way out of touch.

I’ll join in at the Bachman lynching, but it’s not clear to me that the crazy pledge is actually for outlawing all pornography. The phrasing of that bullet point is convoluted.

If it is for getting rid of all porn, then I have to believe the Family Leader has an Obama-supporting mole in their midst. And I applaud them.

Their quaint, family friendly view of slavery is both openly racist and unforgivably inaccurate and incurious about history.

If you’re not going to save my innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy from the innocence-stealing menace of pornography, who will??

Porn is a 3 billion dollar a year industry. Lets shut it down,. We have too many jobs any way.
If we end it in America, I am sure no other country will pick up the slack and make the money.
Porn fans will just quit and porn will never be heard from again.

She makes it sound as though all porn is a culprit of society, but with her deluded background of out of touch agendas, she wants GAY porn outlawed the most, since that is what is causing the tornadoes in the bible belt.

So now we’ve got SSM, porn, sharia law, not enough African-American babies to adopt due to legal abortion (read her quotes all over the web) and she thinks the Earth is 6,000 years old and Jesus rode a dinosaur.

If anyone still believes she’s a viable candidate, they shouldn’t be allowed to vote in the first place. Of course, I aid the same thing about Perot in the past…

and the Democrats don’t?

Hey, how many Wall Street Crooks has “The One” sent to prison as a result of 2008 Recession?

Umm.. well, there’s Bernie Madoff… and… ummm…

Hell, Give Bush credit, he actually went after the Enron Crooks - and got convictions. Ken Lay died a broken man.

Both parties have been bought by the wealthy. That’s why Obama’s press guy seems to think there isn’t a recession out here… all the folks he talks to are probably doing fine and living large.

So you are going to gay websites to prove your point?

You are referring to Social Security being run on under 2 percent of its income? Yes the private sector can not compete.
You mean the military in Iraq ? The private contractors are paying soldiers many times our soldiers rates.
They are building shoddy installations that resulted in soldiers being electrocuted. They have fleeced the tax payers out of billions. yep the very model of private business. Squeeze every dime out of the government. While SS tries to keep costs lower. Which model is better for the taxpayers?
Your belief is bathed in ignorance. It requires believing Reagan type Repubs who declare the government the enemy in order to make people who do not do their homework believe that private enterprise would do it better and cheaper. It is wrong on both counts.
