Back in the Swing

Alright, I’ve just started working out again. I haven’t worked out in about three months, and I haven’t worked out seriously in about a year.

This is about to change

As of last Tuesday, I made a pact with myself. I will workout/lose weight and look great for my upcoming wedding in Nov. (the 5th to be exact).

I’ve done this several times before, that is worked out, lost weight, etc. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

That being said, I’m sore, I hurt, and I’m tired. Trademarks of a good workout I say…Yet…I have a gym “appointment” tonight and I’m wiped.

I figured I’d post this here as a testiment, a “signing” of my internal pact.

Wish me luck!

Best of Luck - stick with the habit.

I, too, am starting some form of exercise - sit ups. This has nothing to do with a New Year’s resolution, but instead with the fact that my back is a new kind of sore, and I can tell it is due to or made worse by weak abdominals.

8-minute Abs for me!

I…I have a new product…stay with me now…
7 minute Abs!

If you don’t like the first 7 minutes, you get the 8th free!

Yay Meatros !

I embarked upon the same 5 years ago. I have lost 10 inches and feel better than I did 20 yrs ago.

“Well, until somebody comes out with 6 minute abs…”

A while back, I decided to start running a little bit. It irked me that I would get winded rather quickly at just a little bit of aerobic activity. Never been much of one for it – my brother is the running star, wins races all over Florida, has run several marathons. Me, I started by huffing and puffing along, but now it feels great to be able to run a few miles and not feel out of breath now (I’m currently doing 2-3 miles about 4 times a week).

Stick to it – you’ll feel better! Good luck, Meatros, and come back and let us know how you are doing every once in a while.

::huff…pufff…::

Well, I just got back from the gym today. So sore…Dang…I’m ready to sleep now…

It’s always tough starting up again.
Incidently, Monstre how was running, for you, in terms of weight loss (assuming you were losing weight)?
Currently I’m doing weights 4 times a week and cardio 4 (perhaps more) times a week. My cardio is the eliptical machine, mainly because my knees crack like rice crispies, and the eliptical is generally easier on my knees.

Thanks for the support everyone!

I’ll post updates from time to time.

Well, it hasn’t been overly drastic – but the main benefit is that I definitely feel healthier. For me, it’s been more for building endurance. When I started, I did drop about 7 pounds fairly quickly – then I broke my little toe (last January) and wasn’t running for about 5 or 6 weeks (and gained it right back).

I supposed I should start shooting for the 3-4 mile range for each run, but I haven’t made myself do it yet. It does feel great to have run a few miles, though, and not be gasping for breath at the end. My brother is also surprised that I have stuck with it – I ran with him when I was visiting family over Christmas, and we did 3 miles. That was a pretty good workout for me, but he was hardly breaking a sweat, the little brat.

Hang in there Meatros. It’s always hard to get back into the routine of exercisisng regularly but it will pay off. I’ve been working out more or less regularly for more years than I care to remember but it has been worth it. I do a mixture of weights and aerobics three days a week and just aerobics two days. The weights are for muscle tone rather than body building.

And congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Best of luck to both of you.

Yeah Meatros!

It is not so much loooooking good for the wedding day, but being the beef cake your bride can swoon over on the honeymoon that matters.

I’ve just started working out again after cough three years as the anti-super hero, Inertia Woman.

I am taking it easy, doing yoga and spinning so far with some weight lifting.
I would like to share my mantra with all the Desperate To Regain The Body who are reading this: **A Body in Motion Stays in Motion. A Body at Rest Stays At Rest, Until It Is Propelled Back Into Motion By a Larger Outside Force.**™

Or, when you are out of breath, you can just say, **Newton’s First Law. ::pant::::Pant Newton’s First Law. **

I always thought a great name for a gym would be Newton’s First Law.

Take a job as a dishwasher. Work the clean-must-be-put-away side. You WILL lose weight, especically on the crowded days.

Shadez

That is funny!

Thanks again all. Well it’s Monday, and it’s the first day in my gym cycle. I’m still a little sore from last week, but no matter. I’m taking it slow and what not.

I figure I’m going to get into better shape, by lifting weights and doing some cardio and in about a month I’m going to start running (hopefully). I like the idea of having some wind, as Monstre said. I’m already strong enough (I suppose), due to my previous efforts in the gym. I would like to get up to my old workout weights, but it takes time I suppose.

One thing that was slightly funny, over the weekend: My fiance and I were watching a movie with Vivica Fox, about getting your man back in ten days (or something like that). During one part of the movie Fox is saying how you can tell your man’s cheating, by a few different catch phrases, such as: I’ve got to work late and I’m going to the gym (when the person hasn’t gone in a long time). My fiance started ribbing me and we both thought it was funny.
I think the name of the movie was 2 can play at that, or something.
