Hey Guys and Ladies
I have now wasted 6 discs trying to do this, because at the very end it tells me that file backup was unsuccessful. I do have a MiMedia online backup, but wanted to have a hard copy as well.
I’ve googled the problem, but all that tells me is that it’s a common Microsoft problem. Is this anything y’all can help with?
Thanks

Are you trying to use the windows backup utility? If So, I wouldnt bother, most of their backup stuff IMHO is worthless.
Drop a blank CD/DVD, format it in and copy/paste any files you want to the disk.it make take a little more time, but the bonus is, you can easily see/access individual files with ANY version of windows in case you find yourself replacing a computer and the computer and your critical files are embedded in a 3 year old backup archive your new PC cannot read.
You gave us lots of hardware information, but what we probably need more is what you are doing.
What program are you using to burn the disk?
How much information are you trying to put on the disk?
What is the program doing? Freezing up? Giving you an error message?
Have you tried disks from a different vendor or spool?
Thanks very much for the replies!
Yes, I am trying to use the W7 backup utility.
6.75 Gb total info. MiMedia gives me 7 for free.
I get an error message at the very end telling me the backup was unsuccessful. I did save the last 3 discs wondering if there’s ANY info on them. Everything works great up until that very last disc, when it exits the program with that damn message.
No, I haven’t tried different discs/Vendors or going from DvD to CD.
I was hoping I wouldn’t have to copy/paste onto a disc, because, due to my dementia, I’m not a whole lot of use when it comes to doing stuff manually. Also, it sounds like I’d be doing that on a pretty regular basis, wouldn’t I?
Thanks again!
