My PC has an extended partition with all the XP system files on it. HP has put a utility on the PC that allows me to create a sort of CD backup of these files, but unfortunately that would mean I can create 1 and only 1 backup.
My question is if I can use Linux to backup the files on that partition to CD, and if I ever need to restore those files, simply restore them back to the extended partition. The only reason I can think that this might now work is that the files, or at least certain files, would need to exist at certain locations within the partition in order to be able to boot from that partition. Otherwise, I don’t know of any reason why I can’t just access those files like any other files.
Anyone have any idea?
