Backwards baseball caps - sly cultural statements

I like to chuckle condescendingly about how non-functional a backwards baseball cap is while I am putting on my tie.

Regards,
Shodan

No for notbing, but what’s functional about a tie? Don’t your shirts have buttons?

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh

I only wear practical clothing in the correct fashion. I quit one job because they wanted me to wear pants when a burlap sack* worked fine. It was nothing but a made-up fashion statement that required both my legs to be covered in impractical cloth tubes.
*I used to buy the burlap sacks but now make them better and cheaper at home.

Yep.

Depends on the restaurant. Some restaurants (fewer these days) require jackets for men. I am sure they would also ask men to remove hats. Kitchen toques are a completely different issue.

Etiquette rules for hats have always been different for men and women. I would be curious to know what kind of restaurant that was. If it were Denny’s I would be surprised.

Og Bless Kevin Spacey for his sly cultural statement, wearing his flat hat backwards.

It was a sports bar and grill type place. And that sort of etiquette, I find to be grossly outdated.

Sports bars have their own style. I’m very surprised they would ask you to take a hat off.

See, win-win.

You get to go off in righteous anger, and have a story to tell years later, and they don’t have to deal with an obnoxious customer who stiffed them on the bill. In fact, they’re probably telling the story about this guy who just wouldn’t eat unless he had his hat on. Must of thought he was a cowboy. har de har har. Still good for a laugh.

Look, I’m no MRA guy by a long shot. But their policy was sexist. Furthermore, I’m not going to sit there and eat my diner in humiliation, as people take a gander at my “hat hair” (this was back before I went baldy). I had been working all day with my hat on. Taking my hat off would not have been a pretty site. And besides, it’s a fucking sports bar. Not exactly an icon of fine dining.

If that makes me obnoxious, so be it.

IMHO, wearing a backwards cap is just plain … well, let’s just say … unflattering.

And on that significant statement, we shall consider the matter closed.
