Bad, bad, bad beckdawrek ain't living right. (Curses bad weather)

Stormy night Iast night. Rain, wind. Power is out allover 2 or 3 counties. I’m lucky we have a back-up generator. It powers the fridge and few lights. No wifi, no tv. No AC. Nothing fun.
Curses mother nature. Of course it’s gonna miserably hot today. I’m already sweating it.
I’d move to higher ground, but there’s no power there either.
Suck-y day in south R-kansas.
Whoo-pig!

Our whole-house generator is the best money we ever spent. We’ve already had to use it a couple times this week!
However, a massive branch came down in our yard last night and smashed my stepson’s car. Mother Nature’s gonna get ya somehow.

My Son-of-a-wrek’s work truck has a big tree on it. I haven’t seen it, but DIL reports it’s a total loss.
Trees are down all around. I couldn’t get out in vehicle if I wanted to. Mr.Wrekker came from the lake house yesterday. He’s clearing our road now.

New wrinkle: The ‘Cats’ are decidedly not happy about this sitch. We’re howling and prowling! I may have to kick 'em to the curb!:(:(:frowning:

And not to mention its effing hot!!

But do you have bourbon? Mint juleps all around!

Wait, how are you posting with no interwebz? What sorcery is this?!

Hotspot in my car. I’m in a tree above my car. Ala’ Green Acres!
Not kidding at all:)

ETA, no bourbon. Cats don’t like it

Well, Sarah Hucka-Sands will be back there soon enough. I’m sure that with all the lies she’s told that she’d be allowed a few ‘favors’.
( So, did you want to lie on some FEMA forms to stay alive or to submit to the advances of Booze-man or Cottonmouth to stay alive instead? )

Let them have the mint. My cat goes bonkers for it.

Kiddo, your antebellum 'lectricity is driving alla us crazy. Move to civilization.

A whole house generator is definitely worth buying.

I put up with a Honda portable for three years. Dragging out extension cords to my fridge, coffee pot, TV and a couple lamps. Usually the power came back right after I finished hooking everything up. :frowning:

We had a miserable 6 day outage in 2012. I was constantly having to refill the tank. The Honda ran 5 hours on a tank. 5 refills a day. Driving to the gas station (icy roads) for more gas was the final straw. I sold the Honda to a relative that uses it at Deer Camp.

Beck’s storm hit Little Rock too. Lot of power outages across the city. My Generac has been on since 9pm Wed. That’s about 9 hours so far.

I’ve been thinking about you, Beck. The Eastern half of the US has been getting clobbered continually for damn near a year, if not more. I was afraid you had washed away somewhere. News reports are showing places with flooding that have NEVER flooded before! Then add heat! Yuck!

Why don’t you use the generator to charge up the batteries of the solar getup and enjoy life as usual? That’s the way our generator is hooked up to our whole shebang. Of course, you could tell me why yours is different, and I wouldn’t understand a word of it. I had a lady tell me once, she had an arrangement with God. She would leave all electrical stuff alone, and He would not electrocute her.

I think I’ll adopt that as one of my mottos.

As for bourbon, other spirits, mint, catnip, weed…whatever works to get you through it. Take care. We need our Beckers!

It’s been a very rainy and cool spring but we’ve been spared big storms so far.

The mosquitoes and biting flies are loving it.

Big Wrek is hooking up his other portable welding thingy to the AC. We’ll be fine. I got everything I need. If I don’t fall out of the tree, that is:)

How is it I got 26 spam emails while my Wi-Fi is down? Makes no sense. Do I live in the R-kansas triangle or something!!?

Just got a text. Power restoration is pushed back Sunday or Monday. Well, crap.
Plus side: cleaned the fridge.
BigWrek went back to the lake. His boat and everything was fine. I went to a town going south west from me. I was surprised I got there without too much trouble. Very remote area. Nice drive all around. Piddled about the little town and came home.

I got that same text from Entergy. They’ll Restore power by Sun at 10pm.

But, mine just came back on about an hour ago.

Think positive Beck, yours may be restored early too.

I just looked at the Outage map and they got a lot of homes fixed today.

I guess Entergy has learned to give cautious restoration dates. So they can surprise us by getting the job finished early.

This was one of the rare times even AT&T stopped working. It’s back on now too.

I’m not on Entergy. I’m on a co-op. It’s notoriously slow about restoration. I gave up many years ago. They will not be hurried.
All my own poles are good (yes I own them). I’m the only home on this transformer. I’m at outlier. My issue is on the last page of the fix-it list, down at the bottom.
I really don’t expect it on til next week. Big Wrek bought 20 cans of gas for the generators yesterday. Good thing too, because they started rationing gas to 10gallons per, today. Alot ATMs were out of money this morning. So many kiosks don’t have power. The line at the one at Walmart was 60 people I guesstimated.

Geez, I had no idea things were that bad down there. Stay safe, Beck! And don’t fall outta that tree!

My tree climbing ability is legend. It’s actually a platform from a long ago tree house. It’s sturdy and safe. As long as a bear don’t come up there with me. We’ve had bear prints around the pond this year.
