The Cadfael mysteries are great. We read those to our son when he was recuperating. They’re set in 12th century England during the time of the anarchy. They were written by the linguist Edith Pargeter using the pseudonym “Ellis Peters”.
At the diabetic clinic they respect my personal space. I’ve been going there for years.
I snuck a peek at my chart a few times and I have a red flag. It says “no touch without asking”
I love that😁
The dialysis center is still in the learning curve. I’ll teach 'em.
My biggest problem is sometimes I’m mute. It’s a symptom of my phobias and anxiety.
So my mouthpiece (usually the Lil’wrekker) steps in.
I know it seems impossible for me to be silent because I spill my guts on the Dope.
You guys are so lucky. I have found my voice on the board. And I have a gazillion words I’ve been trying to say for years.
I was going to make a suggestion for relieving the boredom, but I’m guessing it’s too cold for Strip Dialysis. Might wake up Sleepy Guy, though.
You said you like true crime books, but I’m hesitant to suggest any since they might be too much of a downer for dialysis.
Hey, @nelliebly !!
You give me ideas.
@dropzone, I cleared out my in box. Try again soon please.
Sorry, daughter Michelle still has my phone.
Well dang it.
Hey, you start reading actual true crime BOOKS, and I bet the staff will respect the Hell outta your personal space!
In the true crime category, I love anything by Ann Rule!

I’m dreading tomorrow. Jeez, is this feeling ever gonna go!?
My life is a joke most days. But this dialysis crap is really screwing with my head.
I like to live, tho’
I’m seeing the surgeon next week. It looks like Pancho is due an eviction.
I’m scared
I understand your fear but need to remind you of your support team at the SDMB. We are here for you, come what may.
We are
Me, too and I’m usually up late at night when the worry gremlins are the bad, bad, baddest.
Much good vibes and prayers for you, Beck. hugs
Thank you guys. I’ve had a horrible day today. I look and see good wishes and it made be feel better instantly.
Love you guys!
At-home dialysis is often done at night. My cousin did it that way. Are you a candidate for that?
Haven’t read the whole thread yet, but Sue Grafton’s series stops with “Y” because of her death.
@Beckdawrek, don’t be a-scairt. You have lots and lots of fans…really, a ridiculous number…Taylor Swift would be jealous, as in write-a-song-about-Beck jealous. (“She stole all my fans away./They say she is here to stay./This jealousy makes me meaner and meaner./Gonna quit the biz and become a dry cleaner.”) Leo DiCaprio would assume the fetal position. Black Sabbath would pack it in…oh, wait.
Focus on the step you’re on and trust the future to whatever you believe in.

Shit, had no idea you were dealing with kidney issues. Godspeed.
If Pancho is full of nastiness, get rid of him! Infections skew everything inside of you sideways, and nothing works right. Your feelings of doom could indeed be created by Pancho’s evil ways! You might have many more options if Pancho is evicted.
At the very least, you can get a better mood. That will enable you to settle back on dialysis days and read all the fantastic books we’ve recommended!
Do you like crossword puzzles and pencil word games?

No. I’m not a candidate for home dialysis.
That was my first thought when they were first talking about going on it.
I got through yesterday. At this point I’m going day by day.
It’s a very eye opening way to live. You live for the moments and the good days.
Everything seems different when your thinking changes like that.
I wish I had been doing this all my life.
I’ve wasted so much time fretting and worrying about what tomorrow would bring. Not living for today.
I think I like this change.
Uh,oh. I can see the lil’wrekker taking advantage of my new thinking.
