FilmGeek, while technically “true”, I think you’re going to have to turn in your ovaries or something if you keep this stuff up.
You are right.
I had forgotten there are some dumb ditwads on this board.
I see they have posted here though!
- My father is cheap. I bought my son a top from Target for $4 and he thought that was way overpriced too. He wouldn’t spend more than $1 on a top.
2.Yes, I also need to wear clean clothes to “feel good about myself” too.
- CJ, If you meant me, I checked my e mail and theres nothing there!
In any other forum I would’ve, but she was posting in the pit, and I couldn’t resist.
Wow, nice comeback. :dubious: We’re dumb… because? Did you even have any reasoning behind that one, or was it all knee-jerk?
Your father paid for you to get your hair done. How can you call him “cheap”, when he spent money to get you something you didn’t need?
no no no, that’s not it…
Lesson learned: Don’t live beyond your means.

Perhaps she just hasn’t learned yet that clean clothes or hair coloring won’t make her feely nearly as good about herself as being an independent self-sufficient adult will.
perhaps she already knew that and can’t find a job.
To avoid this turning into a flame fest, it was about people who have had bad hairdressers, I will not post anymore. Anyone wishing to flame me can start their own thread!
If you don’t want people to comment about your life, don’t fucking post about it on the internet. You’ve posted enough here about your dire circumstances. How could you not expect someone to take you to task? While we’re at it, quit making all of your posts look like an ee cummings poem.
Haj
Hear hear!
My father has only ever paid for me to get trims at the cheapest place in town, and that he hasn’t done since I was 15! I can’t even remember the last time I asked my dad for money.
Your lack of rational arguments for your defence surprises me. I guess you don’t have any.
Yeah, that would nearly work if you hadn’t already posted about how very long you’ve been out of work. Oh, and maybe it’d fly if there weren’t tons of other people here who all managed to get out there and find jobs and sitters and go to work everyday and pay the bills no matter what, because that’s what adults do.
Well, I’m not nearly as well-versed in your financial situation and job record as some of the other posters in this thread, and frankly that’s not a concern of mine, so speaking as a fellow female who has known the horror of a bad, bad hair cut / dye job: sorry to hear that, girl.
Sounds like it’ll be a relatively easy problem to fix though. Have you seen that store-brand hair dye with the streaking brush? It looks pretty foolproof, but those are more stripey than highlighting. You could also try a streaking cap. You know, they’re those plastic cap deals that are full of little holes like a sieve; you put them over your hair and pull strands of your hair through the holes and then dye or bleach the hair. I don’t know what your highlights looked like, but it sounds like a streaking cap plus some blonde dye would work at least as a temporary fix to get your hair sorta back in shape until you can afford the pricier job [hopefully with your own money even]. The needed supplies wouldn’t run you over $20 or so at a beauty shop.
And for the record…
You’re right, $40 is way cheap for a dye job.
And yes, it sounds like your father is a bit on the frugal side.
BUT… it was beyond generous, of him, IMO, to have given you the $40. I know you’re pissed at your hair, but it ain’t Dad’s fault, and the fact that the girl did a horrible job shouldn’t take anything away from the fact that he gave you what he considered to be an exhorbitant amount of money for a 'do. You probably know all of this already; just thought I’d add that in there as a friendly unsolicited reminder.
mulligan.
That would be an idea, but my hair won’t lift to blonde without bleach.
- I sure won’t do that at home.
- Seeing as how my entire head was covered with bleach, it is unhealthy now.
I won’t put any other chemicals on it for a while, til some inches of roots come out(and they will be barely noticeable).
Highlighting is good, as some strands woven through your hair are still untouhed and therefore healthier.
All over processing is bad by itself.
I am saving up and will get it done well another place, but not til my hair is healthier.
The guy is moving (its a guy) and selling his shop anyway.
Truly $40 is a cheap job, but like I said, when you pay that little, you aren’t getting the best job.
vanilla: Some other posters are implying you have bigger problems than messed up hair, and I whole-heartily agree. How old are you? Why can you not afford a $40 hair treatment? Are you working? Would it not be reasonable to assume you have more serious problems to deal with?
I can only guess that your father would be less “cheap” if you asked him to pay the bill for a resume writing service, or new business attire (for interviewing)…
oooh, my first insult. Am I initiated, now?
This thread was for those who have had bad experiences at the hairdressers.
My mistake was not putting it in IMHO.
Thats all.
IMHO, your mistake was mentioning that dad paid for it. If you’d put it in IMHO, someone would have just moved the fact that your dad paid for the 'do to the Pit anyway.
But hey, it’s hair, just chop it all short, let it get healthy, and start over. (Do I need to surrender my ovaries now, because I am quite happy to do so!
)
Andruin!
Thank you for the help.
I bought that Garnier deep conditioning masque and washed it today(I was afraid to wash it til now).
I am amazed.
It doesn’t feel like straw.
I was sure it would.
Its softer than it ever was even when au natural.
Good stuff.
lel-no, I will never make it short.
But it does feel odd being darker brunette than my natural color when I’ve been blonde for 14 years.
That still doesn’t mean we won’t toner your butt.

(sorry couldn’t resist)
It’s really hard to get copier toner off of your skin.
And for it to be butt skin!?
Well!
btw, I’m sure you still look pretty.
And don’t take the bait to argue in this thread if you don’t want to.
Just stick to whining about your hair.
I mean… talking… about it.
Your extremely mean and ill tempered friend who can’t pick on you enough, NCB

Like my line breaks?
NoClueBoy,
you can tone my butt anytime.
Vanilla, I meant to reply to this days ago, but I was not able to log in.
That sucks and I feel very, very bad for you. As Morelin said (though not of me), I need to be blonde to feel good about myself, so I understand 110% why you are upset.
That said, do not go back to that guy. Yes, $40 is cheap but it is not worth it. Never, ever go back. Since you paid for him to mess up your hair, you should demand that he fix it for free. Likely, that will involve highlighting.
If you would like to wait until your hair is healthier, I second the reccommendations of Queen Helene’s Cholesterol. I have been using it for years and my hair has stood up well to the considerable abuse it’s taken. Also, if you’re up for it, have it cut short. If there’s any unevenness of colour, wear your hair curly to disguise it.
I also go to the cheapest place in town, partly because I have a small budget and partly because they are also the best place in town. I used to pay over $100 for a simple dye job, but stopped going to that salon after they told me that I could “never” be a blonde. Since I switched to this new salon, I’ve been getting great haircuts and my hair really does turn blonde when it’s highlighted. I don’t like highlighting because it’s too expensive and I would rather it be all blonde. So, earlier this month, she tried to dye my hair blonde without highlights and it did not turn out blonde. She offered to fix it for free. It appears that there’s no way to fix it without highlights, and I am just as upset as you are.
