Maybe he/she likes the ‘shiny’ stuff, that’s why he/she chews on them.
One of our cats ‘steals’ shiny stuff…jewelry, coins, etc.
He hoards it all in strange places throughout the house.
One of our other cats has a thing for emory boards.
He licks them.
He steals them, takes them to a dark corner of the house, and licks them.
He rubs himself on them.
He plays with them.
I have no idea why they do this.
Weird.
My cat Punky got off the nice soft comforter this morning just to walk over and lie on the hard cedar chest so he could make sure the blouse I’d laid out to wear was properly haired. ::sniff:: He’s so good to me.

I’ve got another one who likes to lick plastic. Bread bags in particular.
My kitty loves emory boards. He also eats plastic bags. I have to hide the garbage in the closet so he won’t eat the liner. I’m not talking licking, I’m talking big bites that he then throws up or poops out. He also tries to eat the buttons off my clothes. And then, of course, there was the penny incident, for which he still owes me $3000…
Yeah, it’s hard to tell which one is the couch cushion!
