Dude! That was on, like two days ago. And I couldn’t help but watch Bridget Nielson struggling to speak in English wearing a hairstyle frighteningly similar to a mullet. ::shudders::
The Fifth Element
hangs head in shame
Hey! Red Sonja and The Fifth Element were cool! Cool, I say! My personal favourite bad movie is Grease 2, so you might not want to listen to anything I have to say.
I’m with you man. When I saw the thead title Oscar jumped into my mind. It’s such a bad movie, but for some reason everytime its on(and HBO has been showing it alot lately) I just have to watch it.
To thow something new into the discussion I have to say Men at Work.(The Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estivez one)
BRAINDEAD!!!
Starring Harold from ‘Neighbours’.
It’s a corker.
I’m ashamed to admit I thought Hudson Hawk and Fifth Element were entertaining (in a bad sort of way).
Also: Undercover Blues, starring Dennis Quaid, Kathleen Turner, Fiona Shaw, and Stanley “My name is Muerte!” Tucci. I even went to see it in the theatre twice.
Oh, I loved Hudson Hawk and Oscar and the Evil Dead Movies!
My candidates:
Xanadu. I don’t know why. I think it’s just the music and the time it came out.
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas: Dolly Parton in tight fitting, low cut evening gowns, Charles Durning dancing around the State Capitol, Dom Deluise as the pompass, self righteous singing reporter. What’s not to love? Well, besides ol’ Burt’s singing.
Zorro: The Gay Blade. I love George Hamilton and his cheesy accents. I even liked Love at First Bite.
The Hidden. Suffice to say Claudia Christian’s in it. As a striper.
One Crazy Summer
I second Who’s That Girl
Desperately Seeking Susan
Men at Work
April Fool’s Day(early 80s slasher flick)
Overboard
I also love The Fifth Element. Another one of my guilty pleasures is Summer Rental, a mediocre John Candy comedy from the mid-80’s.
I love Mom and Dad Save the World! Its the best bad movie ever!!!
And, Crunchy Frog, I got Track of the Moonbeast MST3K on tape if you want to borrow it, since we live in the same town. Just give me an email.
If anyone else has MST3Ks and wants to do some swapping, LMK as well…
The first movie that jumped out at me was
St. Elmo’s Fire
-I love this film. It’s not that great, nor is the acting that good. But the characters are very well-written, I think.
And yes, I was the one that liked Howard the Duck.
I saw Teenage Mutanat Ninja Turtles about 30 times in theaters.
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane is my favorite movie that everyone else hated. Yes, I actually think Andrew Dice Clay is funny.
Everyone I know who saw it, and every movie review I read, thought that Meet Joe Black was an awful movie. I happened to enjoy it. So there.
[sub]Of course, Claire Forlani certainly helped to make it one of my favorites, too. Mmmmm. She’s a cutie.[/sub]
God, there are so many.
Bad Taste and Dead Alive for starters. Sure, the director moved on to bigger things (cough Lord of the Rings cough), but still. Incredibly tasteless, silly films.
I second Plan 9 although everyone says that. Big Trouble is also a good one.
Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity is a really bad b-movie that I found myself liking anyway.
Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death also comes to mind. Hey, Bill Maher and Shannon Tweed in the same movie? Sign me up!
I also really enjoyed Hellraiser 2, even though it was, objectively speaking, crap. Not too wild about the other ones, though.
Others as I remember them…
I loved The Fifth Element and Meet Joe Black [sub]it made me cry![/sub].
I forgot to mention this one. I love this movie.
There is absolutely no reason to be ashamed of that. The Fifth Element is one of my all-time faves! I don’t think it qualifies for this thread because it’s not BAD at all. I love that movie.
Arden Ranger, I can’t believe you said Xanadu. That is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. I think my mom rented it for my siblings and me to watch while my parents went out. I think my little sister kind of liked it, but I can’t even believe I watched the entire thing. Horrible. Everything about it is horrible.
My favorite bad movie is homemade: The Cocaine Movie. About 25 minutes of nonsensical, strange, messed-up insanity, with some very valuable information on the history of cocaine thrown in to make it educational. We had to make it for health class. I think that if you all saw it, it would be your favorite bad movie too. The acting is horrendous, the film quality sucks, and the editing (done in 2 nights) is very shakey. Yep, that’s my fave.
Oh, and also The Crow is pretty bad/good.
My favorite bad movie is a little-known B flick called They Call Me Bruce. I think it was made in the 1970’s.
. . . And I return just in time to bring up the hallowed title “Kiss Her Goodbye.”
I am also fond of glitzy soap operas of the late '50s/early '60s, where aging glamour girls in perfect coifs suffer beautifully in their Jean Louis frocks. “Madame X,” “Imitation of Life,” “Back Street,” “The Best of Everything.” It helps if the leading men are carved from wood and heavily varnished: Hugh O’Brien, John Gavin; that sort.
Labyrinth.
David Bowie-In tights.
Also lots of funky goblins and Moral Lessons to be learned.
What else could you want, really.
