Bad things that fortune cookies have said to you

There’s already this other thread about fortune cookies where I considered posting this, but the mood over there seems to be more humorous and I didn’t want to spoil it.

I was coming home from a discouraging visit with my parents, at the end of which my dad told me I was no longer welcome in his house due to theological differences he and I had. And he said he didn’t care if he never saw me again.

So I was eating at this Chinese buffet and feeling pretty lousy, so you can imagine how I felt when I opened the fortune cookie and it said, “You will grow up to be just like your father”.

I almost lost it right there.

I’m sorry to hear about this. I’ve never understand theological disagreements leading to a parent disowning(in some cultures) or kicking out their children.

I was raised strong Christian, and even if I became Atheist or Satanic, my parents would not kick me out. They would have prayed for me and tried to help me.

Are there other reasons? Were you being rude about your parents’ faith?

I’m just very sad to hear something like that.
