Bad Year For Movies? No Way.

I was talking to a few morons yesterday and they wouldn’t stop talking about how 2004 (in North America) was such a horrible year for movies. I nearly choked on my spit when they said that and the others agreed… how could you say this year sucked for movies?

Here’s just a few of the movies that came out this year that, alone, make it a fantastic year in film:

Maria Full of Grace
The Motorcycle Diaries
Shaun of the Dead (not sure when it was released in the UK)
Kill Bill vol. 2
Hotel Rwanda
Garden State
Napoleon Dynamite
The Aviator (okay, haven’t seen this one… but could it possibly be bad?)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Okay, those are just a few I had off the top of my head that I personally thought were absolutely GREAT. Now, with that list and whatever else you had in your mind, would you, if you’re a movie fan, consider this year to be a disappointment in the film industry?

If you’re a movie buff, were you disappointed in this years releases? I certainly wasn’t. In fact, I’d say this is one of the better years in the last decade.

Some good ones there. I’d add:

Finding Neverland
Sideways
The Incredibles

Better than last year, by far.

This thread is better suited for Cafe Society.

I’ll move it for you.

Cajun Man
for the SDMB

Collateral.
The american release of Hero.

Along with all of the above. Honestly, everyone could find someone to love this year in movies.

Documentaries too:

-> Fahrenheit 9/11
-> Super Size Me

Garden State alone makes this the best year for movies ever.

Maria Full of Grace, Collateral, and Eternal Sunshine helped too though.
