Baked bacon

Pure maple syrup:D

I’m going to have to try that. It sounds like it would go good with baked scrambled eggs.

You can buy a special microwave bacon tray if you want. They don’t cost too much. If you don’t want to buy one then this is what to do. I always cut the entire package of bacon in half. The shorter pieces are easire to handle and don’t curl when you cook them. Using any microwavable plate, cover the plate with paper towel and lay bacon on that making sure there is no overlap of bacon on each other. I cover it with a plastic microwave lid just so it does not spit and mess up the microwave. You can use another layer of paper towel on top to prevent spitting if you like. I can get 12 half pieces of bacon on a plate. My microwave cooks the bacon to perfection in 5 minutes at the highest power level. The paper towels soak up most of the grease. Some times I just lay the bacon on the plate without any paper underneath and I end up with the same result but with a plate full of grease. I do it this way for my dogs. They just love a plate of bacon grease.

OK, since no one but me and TDN had any flavoring ideas, I decided to experiment.

You may not believe me, but the following turned out amazing. It may be my new favorite:

Lay out the bacon as above. I used *Black Label® *maple.
Cover in Salsa.
Turn the oven on to 375.
Bake for 25 minutes
Turn over
Cover in Salsa again
Bake for another 10

I am thrilled with the results.

WHAT???

one standard sized cast iron skillet
2 pounds of bacon
form into layers in pan back and forth (dont weave em just lay them down)

cook

you have to keep stirring it every so often and some may finish first but you can cook a crap load of bacon in a pan, in my big skillet I could easily do 4-5 pounds (granted its friggin HUGE) at a time.
for my all time favorite bacon recipe

Candied Bacon

bacon cut in half
cookie sheet (with rack if you have one) lined with foil
brown sugar (with a touch of cinnamon if you like)

bake bacon for 7-9 min (thick cuts take longer) at 400
remove flip (or dont) and sprinkle brown sugar on bacon in a nice layer
bake for another 7-9 min
remove
flip (for real this time)
sprinkle more brown sugar and
bake for another 7-9 min
remove and let cool.

Mmmm… bacon!

I’m with Jodi; microwaving is the way to go. You expect me to wait 18 minutes when I could have it in 3.5? Please. Although, judging from the posts here, oven-baking may allow for more flavoring options.

After all this talk of bacon, you can bet your sweet bippy we had some this weekend.

I did more than just kiss the cook in return.

I’m just sayin’.

Underlining added by me.

Let me get this right: you throw aWAY bacon grease??? :smack:
It’s the AMA, isn’t it? They got ahold of you and brainwashed you into thinking that you really need to be healthy, right? They showed you Paula Deen shows with altered soundtracks to make you think she’s the Devil incarnate, right??

We’ll schedule you into the re-education facility for next week, k?

I started cooking bacon on my foreman grill. Tastes absolutely fantastic! Really brings out the flavor of the apple smoked bacon I use.
