Have they actually been banned, or have they, like the bubble-gum cigars and ‘Big League Chew’ shredded bubble gum of our childhoods, just been discontinued as being ridiculously inappropriate given the modern mindset against tobacco usage?

I remember this vividly. All of our space toys back then shot projectiles from Battestar Gallactica to Micronauts to Star Wars. It caused all toy manufacturers to cease making these models and we were so disappointed when Boba Fett’s missile wouldn’t launch from his back as advertised in the commercials.
