Now that we’re done with the topic, I wonder if teams that changed names as part of a change in locations should have been included.
For example… when Bud Adams moved the Houston Oilers to Nashville, and within two years renamed the team the Tennessee Titans, since oil and oil drilling had little connection to Nashville or the Tennessee region.
Same thing with the Montreal Expos → Washington Nationals change, When the team was in Canada, its name had been inspired by Expo '67, a World’s Fair held in Montreal – so when the team relocated to DC, the Expo name had absolutely no meaning to anyone in the US.

And I might also question the Minnesota North Stars → Dallas Stars entry. When the North Stars moved to Dallas, the team merely dropped the now-irrelevant word ‘North’, so it wasn’t really that much of a change.
