One of the “Seven Sisters” of women’s magazines. TIL that only three of the seven have survived: Good Housekeeping, Better Homes and Gardens, and Woman’s Day. McCalls (renamed Rosie, for Rosie O’Donnell, from 2000) stopped publication in 2002. I’m old enough to remember their sewing patterns.

Ceased publication in 1957, although a NJ-based media company purchased the name in November 2025 and is supposedly preparing a relaunch this summer (2026)

Also published in the US as Heavy Metal; excellent monthly periodicals with fantastic sci-fi and fantasy stories and mind-blowing artwork. Both magazines ceased monthly production, and cancellation by the end of the 80s. Both have been revived sporatically, most recently as online and digital releases.
