The move was filmed and originally intended to be released under the title of “Shoeless Joe”; it was an eleventh-hour decision by the studio that changed the name to “Field of Dreams”.
Ironically enough, the author (W. P. Kinsella) originally wanted to title his novel “Dream Field”, but had been convinced to change it to “Shoeless Joe” by his publisher.
