So Lieberman is both a DINO and a RINO? The man’s political views are so far out of the mainstream that he doesn’t fit well in either party?
But I think you’re missing my point. What I’m saying is, a hypothetical voter for Giuliani who would think, “Well, I like that he takes a hard line in Iraq, but I’m worried because he’s pro-choice, pro-gay rights, anti-gun, and anti-tax cuts.” isn’t going to feel any better about him if he picks Lieberman, who’s also pro-choice, pro-gay rights, anti-gun and anti-tax cuts. If Giulianni gets the nomination, he’s going to need to pick somebody solidly conservative as his Veep.
No, the point is that he embodies the mainstream, so the Coulters (of both sides) hate him for not affirming their belief that the world divides in their True Believers & the opposite Children of Satan. He’s a moderate. (Which doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not a fool. It just means he’s normal.)
We could seriously end up with some combo of Giuliani & Huckabee winning the general. Neither of them have any foreign policy chops to speak of, we’ll have two “personalities” in office who don’t have the foggiest idea what they’re doing.
And people wonder why I’m backing Biden.
