Balding men: are you doing anything about it?

I’d say over the last 6 or so years I have noticed my hair getting thinner and thinner. Also I was getting a bald spot in the back of my head as well. I began getting my hair cut shorter and shorter. I got tired of paying 10+ dollars to get it cut every few weeks so I bought a pair of clippers and began cutting it myself. I started out with the longest setting and over about a year gradually switched to the lowest setting. At that point I seriously considered shaving my head but never had the guts. Then in October I after drinking a several beers I dedided to go ahead and cut my hair so I wouldn’t have to deal with it the next day. After I woke up and saw what I did to myself, I did what I could to salvage it, which means I had to shave it completely.

I admit at first I wasn’t sure about it, but I never receieved any negative comments about it, in fact everyone seems to like my new style. I must admit now I like it and plan on keeping it this way. Also I want to say that a bald head on a cool pillow is just about the best feeling around.

I have been shaving my head for a couple of years. Best hair-related decision I ever made.

Hey, (my) hair! Go fuck yourself!

I looked dorky and weird with hair, I continue to look dorky and weird losing my hair. I am somewhat disappointed that it began for me so young (about 25) and that so many people who don’t deserve it still have full heads of hair at 50. Bastars.

Anyway, if i vcut my hair really short, not only will I need to keep it that short by getting it trimmed every couple of weeks or something, but it will look even weirder on me as I’m such a dorky looking guy at the best of times - plus it spikes up when it’s short, and I hate spiky hair on me.

All told, it sucks.

Solution to advanced baldness = wear a hat in the sun…keep hair cut very short. In my case, not shaven as my head looks like I was raised by a tribe that strapped babies on head flattening boards, so that from the back it is pretty odd.

On the other hand, I can sleep on an airliner without my head wobbling back and forth.

This thread reminded me of one of my favorite Talking Moose phrases…

“Bald spot? no, solar panel for brainpower”

Ha ha!, the Talking Moose is only available for Macs, take that, peecee crowd!

<hijack>Mr Aru has alopecia, and I encouraged him to shave at first because he looked like he had mange=\ and being military, he had very short hair to start with. of course he does miss eyelashes and nose hairs … but he likes the rest of the bald on the whole. Never has to shave anywhere now=) Much faster to get ready for work in the morning, shower and brush teeth, and out the door=)</hijack>
