Bands that SHOULD be popular...

RX Bandits
The Ataris
The Mr. T Experience
and Lagwagon
All semi-popular never-had-a-hit pop-punk bands that should be famous instead of Blink 182. (Not to say that Blink is really bad, just that they have been famous for so long they’re not really punk at all anymore.)

I’m sorry, I just cannot bring myself to buy the CD of any artist that would be on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack.

Same goes for KMFDM.

Not that I have that s/t or anything.

Of course not.

I believe the song you are speaking of is called I typed for miles. It is on the cd Orange Ryhming Dictionary which is one of my favorite cd’s.

I forgot to add another band that should be more popular, Dillinger Four. They are probably the best punk band out there right now.

That’s the one, thanks

Clutch. These guys are the best rock band no one has heard of. By far the most talented songwriter out there right now. Varied subjects from albumn to albumn.

Also, for all you nu-metal fans out there, Biohazard should be more popular than they are. They are the ones who started this whole rock-rap bullshit mixture, but they do it with tight NYC hardcore flavor. Limp Shitstick and the other shit bands out there hold nothing on Biohazard. IF you havent heard Biohazards new disc, Uncivilization, get it. It pounds.

Bad Religion.

OK, they’re not quite as obscure as some of the bands mentioned here, but if justice existed, these guys would be very rich, and very fat.

N.B.: That does not apply to anything they did since Mr. Brett left the band.

I grew up on Bad Religion, Minor Threat, Sick of it All, etc… I think Bad Religion was a great band, but they never made it huge because every one of thier songs sounds exactly the same. Which is fine if you really like one of thier songs, but if you dont like one of thier songs, you arent gonna like any.

Oop, forgot to add one comparison. Helmet. That band is still one of my favs. They made me start playing guitar. But, all of thier songs sound exactly the same. Those guys tried so hard to sell out, but they never could. They were on every fricking movie soundtrack from like 93-98. Unsung, one of thier worst songs, was as close to a hit as they came. They had a different bass player on every album though. Just some trivia for you.

Well, I think that saying that Bad Religion have about three or four different songs would be more accurate, but I agree with what you’re saying.

ABSOLUTELY! Although now they have the ex-guitarist from Minor Threat/Dag nasty AND the drummer from Suicidal Tendencies. Could have potential.

[sub]But I doubt it.[/sub]

You guys are making laugh about Bad Religion, it’s too true.

I have to nominate Hepcat, The Slackers (both Ska.) Another vote for Luna here, as I’m listening to them right now. There’s also a band called !!! they are incredible, but hard to find as the name is not recognized by search engines.

More info please. Linkety link?

Gypsy Soul

…yeah, I simply cannot rave enough about these people…beautiful, beautiful music…

http://www.threeoneg.com/gsl/ …is !!!'s label website, look under bands. There is a track you can listen to called Intensify. They are great, it’s punk dance music!

I think I’m in love.

Ahhhhhhhh… young love…

Considering how enormously popular they were in Southern California (the Halloween shows were legendary, and filled 18000 seat amphitheatres every year) I was always surprised to discover they weren’t that big anywhere else in the country. My Wisconsin cousins always wrote them off as the “Weird Science movie guys”.

My list:
The Mr. T Experience
The Queers
- I made the DJ play Number One and Surf Goddess at my wedding (of course, I had to supply the CDs.)
Chixdiggit!
The Groovie Ghoulies
The Replacements
- Of course, If Kiss Me On The Bus had been the big hit it was trying to be, everyone would have bitched that they sold out when they went to a major label, just like everyone bitched about REM selling out with Green

Marah

A local Philly band that I hope blows up huge. They deserve it. One of the best live shows I’ve ever seen and the lead singer has a most unique voice.

I couldn’t agree more on Fountains of Wayne and Jets to Brazil. They’re the first two bands that came to mind.

Also, for FoW fans, some good news (according to their website fountainsofwayne.com:

“FoW will be performing their version of the Kinks “Better Things” on Conan O’brien.
Turns out the shows producers felt that the song speaks volumes about American sentiment these days and quickly secured the band for a special performance this Friday night.
Make sure you catch the action … and spread the word!”
