Story here. Hmmm. We’ve had these warnings off and on over the years. The official who is sounding the alarm this time has a bit more credibility than most, though. He predicts much of Bangkok, which is a good 30 miles upriver from the Gulf of Thailand I believe (or is that 30 kilometers?), will be under 5 feet of water by 2030. I’ll be at a rather advanced age at that time, so I hope this is not true, but even if it is, we’re on the 6th floor, so maybe that will help. I suggest that anyone who wants to see Bangkok before it disappears make plans now.
Buy a boat?
never get out of the boat
invest heavily in coffee ground futures and hope that a giant rat doesn’t terrorize your subway?
“…man, and I don’t wanna swim”
One night in Bangkok and it’s full of oysters
The bars are sandy and the pearls are free
You’ll find a cod in every golden cloister
And if you’re lucky then the cod’s salt-free
I can feel an angelfish between my knees
(Too soon?)
I suppose in that case the Skytrain will become much more popular. The subway… not so much.
In any case I’m glad I had already decided to take a Dive Master course. The skills could come handy and in high demand later.
Absolutely goddamn right.
