Bank of Canada asks Star Trek fans to stop Spocking the $5 bills.

Yeah, terentii mentioned that Spock was a lieutenant in “The Cage.”

But that’s not really the original continuity, is it?

Yes. “The Cage” was the very first episode filmed. It’s later seen as an extended flashback, or an episode within an episode if you will, in “The Menagerie.” It’s described by Spock as an accurate depiction of an incident early in his Starfleet career.

The on-line Canadian Encylopedia has a gallery of caricatures of the Canadian PMs: Prime Suspects.

Check out the one for Laurier.

Another vote for being part of TOS canon.

Love it, can you do that on the plastic bills?

No, as other posters noted, this was an old article and people were doing it to the old paper $5 bills before plastic currency was introduced.

Live long and prosper indeed.

It is possible to do it,with a Sharpie or other permanent marker. But as mentioned on one of the linked articles, the current version of Laurier doesn’t lend itself as well to Spockery.

I’ve always thought the current version looks more like Kelsey Grammar - we have Frasier on our fivers!

Along with the episode appearing on the viewscreen, helpfully added by some aliens.

Those Talosians are just swell.

Look, if both William Shatner and James Doohan are Canadian, then just make Lenny an honorary Canadian, posthumously I suppose, then put him on the bill. There.

Spock was going through an emotional phase at the time; he grew out of it (or Kirk told him “There’s only room for one ranting scenery-chewer on this ship!”)

Spock is on a Royal Canadian Mint ten dollar silver coin.
