Dude, you had to know somebody was going to do that.

Lessee…
“1920’s Style Death Ray”
“if he’s prepared”
“Hi, Opal!”
“Cite?”
…y’know, those kinda things.
It’s a testament to how great these boards are that I really don’t have much.
I like most of the things mentioned, I think they’re part of the SDMB vocabulary. Except for cow-orker, which was stupid and overused from the moment it was spawned, I think the in-jokes are good. “Meme” definitely has to go, though. I think it’s usually used incorrectly, and the idea itself (as far as I can understand it) seems dumb.
“Cow-orker” is the reason I came to this thread. Not clever, not funny, not actually even a pun, incredibly overused, and irritating as hell.
The phrase “to be honest”. Usually used preceeding a statement of personal conviction.
Was the poster not being honest until that point?
Some of these are thankfully dead and gone, but over the years:
M’kay
Snookums
Pulling up lawn chair
All your base
In Which (re thread titles)
Political jabs in GQ
Goat felching
Post count parties
Aster**** for cussing
Foreskin (Ahh, the gloroius JDT days…)
Tug-Ahoy (See above)
too tired to think of more.
You can’t - I’ve seen this a fair bit on a couple of other boards I frequent; what typically happens is:
[ul][li]A borderline crackpot makes a first post that consists of meaningless and incoherent drivel punctuated by logical fallacy[/li][li]A few people respond, identifying the logical fallacies (and pointing out why they are weak in this particular context) and patiently explaining that the drivel isn’t really meaningful or coherent.[/li][li]A period of rest[/li]Crackpot then shows up in numerous other threads, randomly and inappropriately shouting ‘Strawman’, ‘slippery slope’, ‘Post hoc’ in response to any and everything he sees.[/ul]

Well, at least s/he learned something.
Runs naked through thread. I hate that. A complete waste of bandwidth.
Theres no real need for smileys.
Like someone else said, quoting the entire post above or OP to make a single point about one sentence.
I’m drunk.
Here I proove Google a bigger friend.
But not in English.
Hmm…
How about “freedom of speech”? Geeze, haven’t we used that one enough?
i could care less, but please remove words like **fuck ** from thread titles.
I say we get rid of punctuation Its too much trouble to remember to use all those little punctuation marks anyway Know what I mean I always gotta look down to see if I hit the correct one then I lose my train of thought Death to all punctuation marks I say
.’.?,…
definately
I used to write “alot” a lot but because of the Boards, I now have my shit together.
Put me down as one who would also like to see “Og” smashed.
“D_Odds, you are a complete and utter moron”
Or anything resembling that remark.
There should be an automatic find & replace:
“D_Odds, your insight is witty, intelligent, and unerringly accurate.” Female posters will also have theirs appended with, “May I have your children.”
Yes. I doubt it.
