barbecue brisket

Please share your recipes. I need to try to make this again, and I haven’t done so for years.


By barbeque do you mean cooked on a grill or smoked in a smoker? I smoke mine using hickory or mesquite.

1 beef brisket (5 lbs is more than enough for two)
1/4 cup kosher salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cumin
1/4 cup chili powder
1/4 cup freshly cracked black pepper
2 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 cup paprika

In a large bowl, combine the salt, sugar, brown sugar, cumin, chili powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper and paprika and mix well. Rub brisket thoroughly with this mixture and let sit in fridge for a couple of hours or overnight. Overnight is best.

Grill or smoke checking internal temp. with a meat thermometer until done, 165 degrees…
