Specificly, this film openly displayed firearms and lead one to the conclution they would be used.
Actually I’m amazed at most movies that don’t resort to violence to further the story line. The fact that a gun got tossed in the river by a character expected to use it floored me as well. I’m sure on a second viewing I could come up with a few more more times where cheap vilence could have served. It’s nice.
