my great gramdmother’s down pillow and a good quilt
That’s the one I couldn’t remember in the OP. And I should since it was a featured topic in the episode of The Sopranos where Christopher has his fling with the D Girl.
Lube. Lots and lots of lube.
Before starting a new thread on this topic I thought it best to search for “necessities” to see if anybody had already probed the topic. I was a bit surprised to see that I had done it myself just over a year ago, and for a couple of days.
Accepting that this may qualify as a zombie thread, but seeing that it only got just over 20 responses, I thought I’d risk its being locked to see if any additional ideas, perhaps from Dopers who missed the thread last year, might be forthcoming.
Some of last year’s responses were quite clever, some were trivial, and some added to my understanding of the issue.
Do you feel there are things in your life beyond Food, Clothing and Shelter, and not referred to in any significant way in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs that need to be included in a definitive list of Necessities?
Vodka.
And my dog.
<Grrrrrrrr.>
I don’t need my dog.
A passport and peniscontrol
Human affection/contact.
And coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
…and this Thermos.
Good point. Hot coffee wouldn’t be terribly useful unless there were something to hold it in. Other than my hands, I mean. Ouch.
