He’s not a Hall of Famer. As much as I loved watching Game Seven in 1991, and as much as I think the man got cheated by collusion in 1986, he’s not a Hall of Famer.
The MLBPA brought collusion charges against the owners for the free agent classes of 1985, 1986 and 1987; charging that owners worked with each other to not bid on free agents, thus keeping salaries down. Arbitrators found for the players in all three cases, causing the owners to have to pay damages to the players who were free agents in those years.
