There are a number of Mets fans here, everyone must be thinking “I guess I better not say anything.”
I’m looking forward to the New York-Penn League, myself. Haven’t made it to the new stadium in Queens. Maybe August.

Nice start this morning by the Phillies. They’re stuck with one of those stupid day-night doubleheaders but Ibanez has two home runs to put the Phils ahead 5-1. A blowout in the first game will allow the Phils to rest some players in the later innings in the first game.
Boy oh boy I am excited for my Brewers.
A one run win? Against the Cards?
Pinch me!
Can someone just give Randy Johnson his 300th win and let him retire? He looks like the bad Johnson from last year today. Unfortunately for the Mets, Santana hasn’t been at his best and it is 4-3 Mets right now in the 5th.
Second walk-off win in a row for the Yanks as A-Rod juiced one in the 11th. Teixeira finally had a good game at the plate with four hits and Joba looked good.
WOW! I’m listening to the Angels/Rangers on radio (TV blacked out) and John Lackey is TOSSED OUT OF THE GAME on the second pitch. He hit Ian Kinsler. Lackey’s first pitch was behind Kinsler’s back and the second pitch hit him.
Never seen a pitcher tossed out so quickly. Obviously, the Angels weren’t trying to get Lackey tossed after coming back from injury on his first start.
Anyone watching this game live? How did it look?
Oh, I bet he did.
Oh, I chose the wording purposefully. Anytime he hits one, that’s how I’m describing it.
I’m away from TV and the internet for a week, I come back, and THIS is how I’m greeted? The Cards have fallen a game out of first?! Damn damn damn.
This Reds fan, stung after a road loss to the miserable Padres, wishes you to stay there, forever.
We’ll deal with you in the 'Nati soon enough, Sir T Cups, admitted **Brewers **fan!
Does anyone know if there are stats kept anywhere for games postponed or delayed due to rain, because it seems to me that this year (so far, at least) must be a pretty good candidate in that category.
Last week it was the north-east, and this week the mid-west. There just seems to have been more than the usual number of postponed games already this season.
You can now see it here.
After throwing the first pitch behind Kinsler, Lackey stretched and twirled his throwing arm a bit, as if to suggest that he wasn’t warmed up properly and that it had been an accident. On the other hand, he’s a starting pitcher who has already made rehab starts and has been throwing in practice, so he should at least be able to get 1 out of 2 out over the plate somewhere. Not sure how i feel about the ejection, to be honest.
To add insult to injury, Kinsler stole a base and scored a run, which was charged to Lackey. He has thrown 2 pitches this year, got no outs, and given up an earned run. Not exactly the start the Angels were looking for today.
I just watched the first part of the Angels/Rangers game. This still doesn’t make sense to me. The Angels have a tired bullpen. Lackey is making his first start. Sure, Kinsler embarrassed the Angels last night with 2 home runs. But, you’re going to waste a start? And go to the bullpen in the 1st inning? Padilla pitches inside and he his share of hit batsmen.
Now the Angels have a day game tomorrow in Dallas. They’ve lost the first 2 of this series and they’d better hope they don’t get a long rain delay or extra innings.
To continue the theatre of the bizarre, D-backs winning 12-0 in the top of the 9th.
The theatre of the ugly must be about the Oakland A’s. Another blowout in Detroit tonight. This team, burdened by injuries, is horrible. Their AAA Sacramento club could beat them right now.
The theatre of Dr. No is the rain delay in Washington. I’m sure neither the Phils nor the Nats want a rain delay in the middle of a day night double header.
Well, it’s almost 12.30am here on the west coast, and i’ve just finished watching a 5 hour and 14 minute battle between Cincinnati and San Diego. Nick Hundley won it for the Padres in the bottom of the 16th with a 2-out home run. Pretty good effort after squatting behind the plate for 16 innings.
Now they have to be back at the ballpark in about 12 hours for another game. I’ll bet both bullpens are hoping that Jake Peavy and Bronson Arroyo can pitch deep into the game today.
Ugh. That didn’t turn out the way I wanted! Now the Padres are going to make the playoffs…
Quite a mix-up in Tampa today. The Rays fucked up their line-up card, listing 2 men at 3B, and forgetting to list a DH.
As a result, after a 13-minute delay in the middle of the first, Evan Longoria is sitting on the bench, Ben Zobrist is at 3rd, and pitcher Andy Sonnanstine is hitting in the #3 spot!
The Rays have also today tied the Major League record for most consecutive games with a stolen base, at 19. The record apparently goes back to 1914.
The A’s choked away a 5-0 lead in the 1st inning. Ugh. D-backs rained out.
Still, a decent game in Texas with the Rangers and Angels. Still no score in the top of the 6th.
Roy Halladay.
Tigers hit the As like it was slo-pitch softball. They scored 9,11, and 14 runs. Good sweep for us.
